  • Call To Worship – Psalm 139:1-6 ESV
    • To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
    • 1 O LORD, you have searched me and known me!
    • 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.
    • 3 You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
    • 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
    • 5 You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
    • 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

    • [Acts 5:1-11 ESV]
    • 1 But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property,
    • 2 and with his wife’s knowledge he kept back for himself some of the proceeds and brought only a part of it and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
    • 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land?
    • 4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”
    • 5 When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard of it.
    • 6 The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him.
    • 7 After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.
    • 8 And Peter said to her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much.” And she said, “Yes, for so much.”
    • 9 But Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”
    • 10 Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
    • 11 And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard of these things.

    • [Exodus 17:1-7 ESV]
    • 1 All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.
    • 2 Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the LORD?”
    • 3 But the people thirsted there for water, and the people grumbled against Moses and said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”
    • 4 So Moses cried to the LORD, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.”
    • 5 And the LORD said to Moses, “Pass on before the people, taking with you some of the elders of Israel, and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go.
    • 6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people will drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel.
    • 7 And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the quarreling of the people of Israel, and because they tested the LORD by saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”
    •
    • [Leviticus 10:1-3 ESV]
    • 1 Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it and laid incense on it and offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them.
    • 2 And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD.
    • 3 Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD has said: ‘Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.'” And Aaron held his peace.
    •
    • [Numbers 20:1-13 ESV]
    • 1 And the people of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh. And Miriam died there and was buried there.
    • 2 Now there was no water for the congregation. And they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
    • 3 And the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Would that we had perished when our brothers perished before the LORD!
    • 4 Why have you brought the assembly of the LORD into this wilderness, that we should die here, both we and our cattle?
    • 5 And why have you made us come up out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It is no place for grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, and there is no water to drink.”
    • 6 Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the entrance of the tent of meeting and fell on their faces. And the glory of the LORD appeared to them,
    • 7 and the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
    • 8 “Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.”
    • 9 And Moses took the staff from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
    • 10 Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?”
    • 11 And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.
    • 12 And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”
    • 13 These are the waters of Meribah, where the people of Israel quarreled with the LORD, and through them he showed himself holy.

    • [Proverbs 6:17 ESV]
    • 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
    •
    • [Proverbs 12:22 ESV]
    • 22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who act faithfully are his delight.
    •
    • [Ephesians 4:21-25 ESV]
    • 21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,
    • 22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,
    • 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
    • 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
    • 25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
